Os DEAD COMBO são Tó Trips e Pedro Gonçalves. A dupla nasceu em 2003 na sequência de um convite do radialista Henrique Amaro (Antena 3) para comporem e gravarem a canção “Paredes Ambience”, incluída no disco de homenagem a Carlos Paredes “Movimentos Perpétuos – Música para Carlos Paredes”. 

Os oito álbuns da banda editados até ao momento, cinco dos quais de originais, têm sido largamente elogiados em Portugal e no estrangeiro, recebendo vários prémios para “Álbum do Ano”. Lusitânia Playboys (2008), o terceiro disco de estúdio, foi eleito “Álbum da Década” pelo jornal Expresso. 

A dupla participou no episódio sobre Lisboa do programa televisivo “No Reservations” de Anthony Bourdain, o que lhes valeu a entrada no top 10 dos discos de world music mais vendidos no iTunes norte-americano. 

Em Dezembro de 2014, coroando um ano com mais de 40 concertos realizados, esgotaram com espetáculos mágicos o Coliseu dos Recreios em Lisboa e o Teatro Rivoli no Porto. 

Também no final de 2014, ficou a saber-se que “A Bunch of Meninos” foi considerado pelos leitores do Blitz Como o melhor álbum português de 2014. 

O ano de 2015 começou com a chegada da música dos DEAD COMBO a Hollywood, através da inclusão de 2 músicas suas no filme “FOCUS”, realizado pela dupla  Glenn Ficarra e John Requa e protagonizado pela super-estrela norte-americana Will Smith. 

Ao vencerem o Globo de Ouro 2015 para melhor banda, os DEAD COMBO viram confirmar-se, a trajetória extraordinária que têm vindo a desenhar, com a consolidação da sua carreira internacional e a sua afirmação como uma das mais interessantes e importantes bandas do novo panorama musical português. 

No plano internacional mais recente (em 2017), fizeram uma tour de teatros em Espanha no mês de Fevereiro, vários concertos em Cabo Verde integrados na visita da comitiva da Presidência da República Portuguesa, a participação no Cappadox Festival na Turquia em Maio e um concerto em Junho no importante festival SUMMER STAGE, realizado no Central Park em Nova Iorque.

Formed in 2003 by an invitation of Henrique Amaro from Antena 3 radio, to record the track “Paredes Ambience” included in the homage CD to the genius of the Portuguese guitar Carlos Paredes,“Movimentos Perpétuos – Música para Carlos Paredes” 

Dead Combo are Pedro Gonçalves and Tó Trips. 

They incarnate two characters that could have come from a comics book: an undertaker and a gangster.

Their albums released have been critically acclaimed in Portugal and abroad, having had their first “Vol. 1” included in Charlie Gillet’s list of best world albums in 2005; “Lusitânia Playboys” was awarded “the record of the decade” in 2008 and all of their albums were awarded records of the year by several important publications in Portugal.

Dead Combo featured in the Lisbon episode of “No Reservations” by Anthony Bourdain. Their music was the soundtrack for the whole episode.

In subsequence, three of the albums reached the top 10 on the north-american iTunes charts for several weeks.

“Lisboa Mulata”, released in 2011, was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Album’s Group. This record was complemented by the work of the american guitarist Marc Ribot. (www.starsonline.pt- nominees )

In 2012 the band released their albums in France.

They were invited to perform at Cannes Film Festival at David Cronenberg film premier. 

They also performed in MAMA Event, a specialized Trade Music Fair which gave them the opportunity to perform in French Festivals, theaters and clubs on the following years.

“A Bunch of Meninos”, the band’s seventh album reached number one in Portugal’s charts, Spotify (Portugal) and iTunes (Portugal).

The songs “Rumbero” and “Lisboa Mulata” were included in the motion picture “Focus” (2015) by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa featuring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Rodrigo Santoro.

Dead Combo was awarded a Golden Globe in 2015 by the Portuguese audience on “Best Band Category”.

This same year they present at European Big Bang Festival invitation their children show creation: “A Cidade da Tristeza Profunda/ The city of profound sadness”

In 2016, they have released their eight-album DEAD COMBO e as Cordas da Má Fama, where they perform their original songs together with a trio of strings.

In 2017 they toured in the four continents, highlighting the shows in Spain and Cape Verde, the Cappadox Festival in Turkey and the great concert in New York, for which they invited Marc Ribbot to play, in the SUMMER STAGE Festival held at Central Park.

Dead Combo is a cult band in Portugal and headlines frequently several major summer festivals in Portugal such as NOS Alive, Super Bock Super Rock, Paredes de Coura, among others. 

The highly anticipated new album, which they are currently working on, is expected in the beginning of 2018.
